Application:
A.Food additives: 
Sodium iodide and potassium iodide are commonly used to treat and prevent iodine deficiency, and commercially available table salt often contains a small amount of potassium iodide.
B.Medical:
Various countries will distribute or reserve iodine tablets for residents around nuclear power plants. The main component is potassium iodide formed by the combination of non radioactive iodine-127 and potassium. In the event of radiation leakage from nuclear power plants due to disasters, surrounding residents can take iodine tablets to saturate iodine-127 in the thyroid gland and reduce the absorption of radioactive iodine-131 by the thyroid gland.
