Physical and Chemical Properties
2-Methyl-1,3-propanediol is an organic compound with a melting point of -91 ºC, a flash point of 100 ºC, a density of 1.015g/cm3, and is a colorless and transparent liquid.
It is miscible with solvents such as water, ethanol, butanol, styrene,  but insoluble in xylene.

Application
It can be used to manufacture unsaturated polyester, liquid saturated polyester, thermoplastic polyester resin (modified by PET and PBT), alkyd resin, polyurethane resin, diester plasticizer, lubricant, etc. It is also used in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, etc. The obtained polymer has the characteristics of low viscosity, low melting point, low temperature resistance, and weather resistance.
In the field of polyurethane, it is used to produce low crystallinity polyester polyols and can be used as chain extenders. Its application areas include synthetic leather pulp, polyurethane coatings, and polyurethane adhesives for food flexible packaging composites.
