PHYSICAL PROPERTIES 
Naphthalene is an organic compound with formula C10H8. It is the simplest polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon, and is a white crystalline solid with a characteristic odor that is detectable at concentrations as low as 0.08 ppm by mass. As an aromatic hydrocarbon, naphthalene's structure consists of a fused pair of benzene rings. It is best known as the main ingredient of traditional mothballs.

APPLICATION  

1. The naphthalene,the most important industrial condensed cyclic hydrocarbon ,ismainly used for production of phthalic anhydride, naphthols, naphthylamine ,etc, which is the intermediates of synthetic resin ,plasticizer ,dye and the feedstock of sur-factant ,painting , spice, rubber chemicals andinsecticide .
2. The naphthalene used for production of phthalic anhydride accounts for70% approximately,15% approximately form dye intermediate, 4% approximately for tanning agent.

STORAGE   
Exposure to large amounts of naphthalene may damage or destroy red blood cells.
