Physical and Chemical Properties
White or yellowish crystals, soluble in water, acidic aqueous solution. In addition also soluble in glycerol, slightly soluble in ethanol. It is easily oxidized to sodium sulfate in air. It is easily decomposed by moisture and has a melting point of 150°C. Chemical reaction with strong acid, and the corresponding salts.

Application

a.Used in the production of phenylpropanesulfone and benzaldehyde.

b.Used as a dechlorination agent after bleaching of cotton cloth, cotton cloth cooking agent.
c. Used for leather processing.

d. Used in the production of hydroxyvanillin, hydroxylamine hydrochloride, etc.
e. Used as developer, etc.
f. Used as a preservative, antioxidant, flour improver.
g. Sodium metabisulfite is used in the reduction of gold from chloroauric acid.
h.It is used as a catalyst in the rubber industry.

Storage
