Chemical Properties
Peroxodisulfate contains peroxy groups and is a strong oxidant that can oxidize Mn2 + to MnO4-. Ammonium peroxodisulfate can be prepared by electrolysis of an aqueous solution of ammonium bisulfate.

Application

1. As a source of radicals, APS is mainly used as a radical initiator in the polymerization of certain alkenes. Commercially important polymers prepared using persulfates include styrene-butadiene rubber and polytetrafluoroethylene.
